First Time Golfing in Two Years

This last Sunday, I made a tee time for nine holes of golf. This was the first-time playing golf since I got really sick and went through the surgeries.

When we are at Higgins Lake, the course we go to most often is Fox Run. I was sold recently and the course in now called The Patriot. The course remains unchanged. The only real difference is the hole plaques and some other little things.

The front 9 seem long, with a lot of woods. There are some hazards that aren't to hard. A few holes have some major undulations. Greens seem a bit fast.

It was great to be out there with the boys. This day wasn't about score but how I would hold up. After coming the surgeries over the last 6 months, I just wasn't sure.

One of the best things about golf, is the scenery at some of the courses. At the Patriot, there are plenty of trees and scenic type of holes. Hole 5 is a classic example. Its brutal par three. You have the gully in the front. If you clear and get past the sand, you have an uphill putt. If you overshoot you end up in the woods in the back.

So, if you ever looking for a challenge and you're up near Grayling, MI. Go play The Patriot..... as for me.....

I just had a tired back. I had a lot of fun, a few good shots and just appreciated the day. It was significant.

It helped me remember it's not always about the score. Take the time and appreciate the little things. You never know when it will the last time out.
